Fraudulent Fundraising

mandates

Left, mandates, the only legitimate way to sponsor with Save the Children through a street canvasser and, right, the logos of both organizations.

Individuals posing as a Save the Children fundraisers have been spotted this year in Florida. "We count on the support of our sponsors and donors and are saddened to hear that this person or people have misused Save the Children's name in this way," says Denise Kuendig,

Associate Vice President of Sponsorship Marketing at Save the Children. The organization does work with legitimate street fundraisers in Chicago, Seattle and Philadelphia and will soon be working in Boston and Portland as well. Florida residents are warned not to contribute to any street canvasser approaching them on behalf of Save the Children.

Official fundraisers, who work with Save the Children and are employed by DialogueDirect, Inc., can be identified by:

  • An orange/yellow name tag with the name of the individual dialoguer, and the names of both DialogueDirect and Save the Children;
  • Their clothing — red shirts and jackets with the Save the Children logo and the "working with" DialogueDirect, Inc. logo (see photos);
  • A binder with both logos on the cover page and containing detailed information about Save the Children;
  • Mandates —  this form (in duplicate) is the only way that a person can sign up with DialogueDirect, Inc. for Save the Children sponsorship. Mandates are red or purple and the sponsor will always receive a copy of the form (see photo) and/or;
  • Possession of a current license from the appropriate governmental authority.

If you are in Florida and are approached by anyone who appears to be fraudulently soliciting funds in Save the Children's name, please contact your local police. If you are in Chicago, Seattle, Philadelphia or Boston and see someone dressed as in the photo above and carrying the appropriate credentials, this individual is a licensed fundraiser for Save the Children.
